ABOUT ME

Filmmaker . Director .

Hello friends, my name is Erwin Santiago.  My love of life and drive to succeed has allowed me to experience so many things, from serving in the U.S. Army, to becoming a certified accountant and electrician and to finally reaching my goal as a filmmaker.

Despite all the accolades and titles, I've held, Father is favorite.  I have 4 amazing children, each with their own unique personality, so finding commonalities can be difficult at times but thankfully, I have a loving wife who helps me grow and become more patient with everything life throws my way.  I’m not sure if I could have achieved so much without her but I know I would not have enjoyed the journey as much.

My interest in film started when I was a kid growing up in the good ol’ Philippines.  I didn't know then, that the emotions I felt from watching a movie would eventually trigger my calling into the film-making life. I've held a camera, pretty much my entire life, from conducting fake interviews with my cousins, recording the neighborhood kids playing sports, to stop-motion films, when I was in my action-figure phase. It wasn't until I finished my time with the military, that I decided to answer my calling.

Since attending The Art Institute of San Antonio, I’ve directed and worked on a total of 16 films, co-created a small production company and helped lead students, as the president of our film club.  I have also been privileged enough to work with most of the school’s film students and lucky enough to call many close friends.

I believe in living in the moment while nurturing a positive future.  When you love life, you find the motivation to smile even when obstacles fall in your path. Cherish every day for the gift that it is and the possibilities it brings. With that, I leave you with my favorite quote.

"There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still"
